Concealed Carrier Stops Mass Shooting After Being Shot in the Head Himself
A heroic man survived being shot in the head and saved his family from an armed mass shooter who would have killed them all.
Approximately 30 people attended Raul Mendez’s Fourth of July celebration with his family on July 3rd, 2022. Despite not knowing anyone at the party, a neighbor of the person who threw the party joined in. On the night of the party, a neighbor suddenly fired shots at the partygoers.
The round exited from Mendez’s left eye before he realized what was happening. His friend had been shot and died, and then he had been shot through the head.
As soon as he hit the ground, he became unconscious. They barricaded themselves in a bedroom of the house in which they were staying after people fled the party.
Two women tried to stop the suspect as he continued shooting. They yelled at Mendez to get up because they knew he was carrying a concealed weapon.
“By the glory of God or the adrenaline and just everything, just the will to live and the will to protect my family, I was able to hear those pleas, those yells for help. I heard my name. And I was able to get up,” he said. – via FOX News.
Using his concealed carry gun, Mendez killed the suspect by shooting four rounds into his chest.
It took Mendez a week to recover from his injuries, including losing his left eye, breaking his jaw, tearing his eardrum, and losing his sense of smell.
“I would rather look like this than lay dead next to my family,” he said to the NRA.
There is no doubt that this man is a hero. His actions that night saved the lives of countless people. Without the shooter’s actions, there might have been many more victims.
The unprovoked attack resulted in the deaths of two people and the injuries of four others.
A law-abiding, armed American can help end shootings before more lives are lost, as Mendez speaks out about the Second Amendment.
“The Second Amendment is important to me, and that’s why I’m advocating for it,” Mendez told Fox News Digital.
“The world is unpredictable. And honestly, at the end of the day, the people who want to ban guns are only attempting to ban them from good people, not criminals. Gun laws do not apply to criminals.”
His New York Times article criticized the media’s lack of coverage of his story, despite Mendez being a lifetime NRA member.
“Without my gun, everyone in the house would’ve died. You wouldn’t have heard about it, but because I had it, you never would’ve.”
Since then, he has purchased two additional handguns for his family to train with. He says they are “more prepared to face [evil] with equal force today than ever.”
